Rosatom is preparing to restart the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in working condition. This was announced on June 6 by the head of the state corporation Alexey Likhachev after a meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi in Kaliningrad.

"We have already informed you that the Rosenergoatom Concern and the Rosatom state Corporation have prepared a comprehensive, multi-level plan for the phased commissioning of a nuclear power plant. The plan is being coordinated by the government, the Ministry of Energy, in cooperation with the grid operator," he said.

At the same time, Likhachev clarified that this initiative can be implemented only if the military threat, direct attacks, and sabotage actions against the plant are lifted, aimed at disrupting the safe and stable operation of the NPP.

In addition, the head of the state corporation said that work is underway on the construction of a floating modular pumping station with a capacity of up to 80 thousand cubic meters per hour, which will solve water supply problems if the units are brought to their design capacity. He also noted that at the moment, the priority is to restore the power grid.

Yesterday, Grossi called for an immediate end to "incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)" near nuclear power plants, as they can pose a serious threat to the safety of facilities.

On June 3, Likhachev said that the situation at the nuclear power plant was very difficult, but it was under control. According to him, the power transmission line supplying the city was almost completely destroyed.
