The priority topic of negotiations between the delegations of the Russian Federation and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was the safety of both the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and the agency's employees working at the facility. This was announced on June 6 by Rosatom State Corporation at the end of the next round of interdepartmental consultations in Kaliningrad.

It is noted that this topic remains in the spotlight against the background of the incessant shelling of the NPP by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"The meeting participants also discussed issues related to the regular rotations of IAEA experts at the station. The Russian side emphasized that in their implementation, the priority is to ensure the safety of agency employees and representatives of the departments involved," the Telegram channel of the state corporation said.

As Alexey Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, emphasized, at the moment all conditions for its safety have been created at the station, and there are no concerns about this. He added that his dialogue with the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, was frank and professional, sometimes sharp in nature.

Likhachev stressed that the physical presence of the IAEA staff and the IAEA mission at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant "is a serious factor in its physical safety."

"I will not go into the details of discussing the difficult current state of the nuclear power plant, we emphasized that we are united in our assessments of its stability and safety. The next topic of conversation is tomorrow, and these are our plans to bring the nuclear power plant into operation," he said.

Earlier, on June 5, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the unique training center of the NPP with the help of UAVs. There were IAEA specialists in it at the time of the attack, whom they promised to notify about the incident.

On the same day, Grossi called for an immediate end to "incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)" near nuclear power plants (NPP), as they can pose a serious threat to the safety of facilities.
