On the site of the Kursk Region Public Support Headquarters, a solemn awarding ceremony was held for parents of participants in a special military operation (SVO) performing combat missions in the region with letters of thanks from Ekaterina Kharchenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education.

The initiators of the action were the military themselves. The event, which took place in the format of a teleconference, was attended by parents of military personnel from 14 regions of the Russian Federation — letters of thanks from the deputy were sent to the regions in advance. In addition to the parents of the fighters, Lyubov Kuznetsova, an internally displaced person from the city of Sudzhi, was also present at the site in the Kursk region.

"You know, these boys have already become ours, because there are no other people's children, and there are a lot of young people serving there, who, of course, miss their moms and dads. And today was a very touching event. When I return to Moscow, I will definitely share this initiative with my colleagues," said Deputy Kharchenko.

Earlier that day, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, during a personal reception for residents of the Trans-Baikal Territory, said that helping the families of the participants in the SVR was the initial task of the state. He considered it callous to cancel regional payments to the families of the dead soldiers and instructed to check the observance of the rights of special operations participants and their families in Transbaikalia.
