The Moscow Administrative Road Inspectorate (MADI), together with employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate, will begin conducting raids on taxi drivers on June 6 to verify the availability of certification. The Moscow Department of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel.

The fine for the lack of certification is 5,000 rubles (art. 10.14 of the Administrative Code of Moscow). The relevant law was signed on May 21 by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

The sanction threatens taxi drivers who have failed the exam on knowledge of transport infrastructure facilities, cultural heritage, medical organizations, educational facilities, sports, as well as facilities occupied by public authorities and local governments, access routes to them, emergency measures and rules for the carriage of passengers and luggage by passenger taxi.

"MADI inspectors monitor daily compliance with the rules of transportation in taxis and carry out inspections throughout Moscow. This helps to identify unscrupulous carriers and increase discipline among drivers," said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport.

On June 5, it was reported that, as Irina Zaripova, chairman of the Public Council for Taxi Development, said, there are currently no potentially suitable models of localized cars in Russia for comfort+, business and minivans taxi segments. This may lead to a decrease in the availability and quality of services in these tariffs, she said.
