The EAO was recognized as the most smoking region in Russia

The EAO ranked first among the regions in terms of the highest prevalence of smoking (24.4%). The results were summed up in March 2025. It is followed by the Amur Region (28.8%), Buryatia (27.7%), Tyva (27%) and the Altai Republic (26.9%). These are the data from the Central Research Institute of Healthcare Organization and Informatization of the Ministry of Health.
The regions where smoking is least common in March were Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
The largest retail sales of cigarettes and cigarettes per capita since the beginning of the year have been observed in the Magadan region. The indicator in this region is 0.34 thousand units. Then there are Kamchatka, Sakhalin, the Eastern Administrative District and the Murmansk Region.
The lowest retail sales of cigarettes and cigarettes per capita were recorded in Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, IA EAOmedia writes.
Earlier, pulmonologist Vyacheslav Ovechkin told Izvestia that the first days after quitting smoking are the most difficult, but qualified psychological help, support from loved ones and an active lifestyle will help overcome the barrier. According to the expert, there are no universal ways to quit smoking, it all depends on the person and his desire to give up the bad habit.
