Over the past day, 307 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 20 people were killed and 351 injured. 12 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on June 6 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 72 accidents, 27 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 45 outside their area of operation, 66 pedestrians were injured of varying severity. Among the injured are 25 minors, 10 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. Eight pedestrians were killed.

In one of the regional centers of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a 22-year-old passenger car driver ran over a 55-year-old woman who was crossing the roadway at an unregulated crossing. The woman died. The motorist who hit her had not previously been issued a driver's license.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers to comply with traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of towns and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop. At regulated pedestrian crossings, you should not rush to resume traffic even when the traffic light is clear.

12 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 12 more road users needed medical help. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. Over the past day, 64 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads, as a result of which 67 young road users were injured, including 18 passengers, nine cyclists and 13 motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.

Temporary closures or traffic restrictions are continuing in some regions of the country due to forest fires or a difficult flood situation. So, in the Tyumen region, traffic on 24 highways of regional significance was temporarily stopped due to flooding of the roadway.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips in this and neighboring regions, monitor the weather forecast and media information from the overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. If traffic restrictions are imposed or road sections are closed due to worsening weather conditions, information is promptly posted in the media, on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service's departments in social networks. In case of a negative forecast, it is recommended to postpone the trip.

In summer, during frequent morning fogs, rains and thunderstorms, you should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden reckless maneuvers and lane changes on slippery roads, observe the interval and distance, and do not exceed the set speed. In conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to use external lighting devices and fog lights, and during heavy fog or heavy precipitation, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on. In case of an accident, it is necessary to identify the scene, call the traffic police, and if there are victims, an ambulance team.

"We remind motorists that the life and health of their passengers completely depend on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior on the road of drivers. Take care not only of yourself, but also of your passengers, especially children. Observe driving discipline. Always transport children in strict accordance with all applicable safety regulations," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

On May 29, the Ministry of Transport published a draft of amendments to the rules of the road explaining the duties of drivers when approaching vehicles with special signals turned on. In the same document, the Ministry proposed introducing the concept of a "child restraint system (device)" into the traffic regulations and defining what exactly applies to these systems.
