On June 5, Ecologist's Day, a meeting of the Board of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Management was held in Moscow. The head of Rosprirodnadzor, Svetlana Radionova, summed up the work of the department in 2024 and outlined plans for the current year.

"5 years ago, the President of the Russian Federation announced several ideas that changed the situation in the environmental sector. "I made a profit at the expense of nature - clean up after yourself," "The polluter pays," and also – environmental payments received by the federal budget have become colored. As a result, more than 50 regulations and 5 federal laws were adopted. Of course, every ruble recovered from a violator is an investment in a clean country, but in addition to monitoring and fines, we pay great attention to business advisory mechanisms. Today, we believe that the agency is ready for digital managerial maturity," Svetlana Radionova said.

She noted that the digitalization of Rosprirodnadzor is not just a trend, but a tool. These include almost 1.4 million reports in electronic form, more than 600,000 unique users, 5 government services that are provided entirely in electronic format, and 32 more with the ability to submit documents through a Single portal of public Services. "And, of course, we are going even further and trying to make every step in administrative licensing activities digital and convenient," Svetlana Radionova emphasized.

The personal account of a natural resource user has saved businesses hundreds of millions of rubles, and artificial intelligence is already helping to find those who do not pay for negative environmental impacts.

The Board discussed not only the results in terms of supervision and fines, but also prevention. In 2024, more than 8,000 preventive visits were conducted, and 73,000 warnings were issued. And they work better than any sanctions.

"Our priorities are prevention, digitalization, artificial intelligence and, of course, public control," Svetlana Radionova emphasized.

Separately, the head of the Service drew attention to the fact that 87% of Rosprirodnadzor's claims are satisfied in the courts.

Alexander Kozlov, the Head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, also congratulated the Rosprirodnadzor staff on Ecologist's Day. "Society has a huge demand for a healthy environment today. And this is no longer just a desire, it is an environmental movement. More and more people in our country are going out on clean-up days, planting trees, sorting waste, and sharing eco-habits. Rosprirodnadzor employees make a great contribution to the formation of this environmental movement. First of all, by his example, by his daily work in the fields," the minister said.

The meeting was also attended by the heads of agencies and services subordinate to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, representatives of the environmental Prosecutor's office.
