A psychologist told Russians about professions with the highest risk of burnout

The cause of burnout in the modern world is most often stress received by a person in the workplace, because it has the strongest effect on a person's psychological state. She told the Newspaper about this on June 6.Psychologist, Master of Neuropsychology and neurocoaching, teacher of psychological disciplines Natalia Bezus.
"Medical workers will remain among the professions where the risk of burnout is particularly high in 2025. The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are still being felt in the healthcare system, and doctors continue to work under constant stress and emotional stress," the expert explained.
She noted that teachers face a similar situation. They are constantly working with the changing educational reforms, the increasing number of tests and exams, and also deal with children in need of a special approach. Therefore, they may often lack time and resources, which affects the emotional state and quality of their teaching.
Programmers and cybersecurity experts can also be exposed to severe stress at work, as the rapid development of the industry requires them to constantly train and adapt to new tasks. The pressure is also created by the tight deadlines for projects and the need to constantly counter cyber attacks. All this requires high concentration, which is very exhausting.
"Service sector workers — bartenders, waiters, vendors — are also at risk. Their work is related to the need to meet customer needs, resolve conflicts, and cope with an unstable schedule. They often work under staff shortages, and this only increases the workload," Bezus said.
Psychologists are also included in the group of those most susceptible to burnout, as the need for psychological help is now very great, and representatives of a wide variety of professions are looking for support. Only psychologists themselves work under the pressure of legal restrictions and with high qualification requirements, which affects their emotional state. Therefore, when choosing a profession, it is important to think in advance about ways to protect your psycho-emotional state, the psychologist noted.
"Compliance with work and rest conditions, a conscious attitude to one's own well—being and stress prevention are becoming integral elements of professional sustainability," she concluded.
Psychologist Tatiana Smirnova told Izvestia on May 29 that a properly organized work and rest regime would help to avoid burnout in the summer. She advised spending active weekends, using lunch breaks for walks, and starting the morning with physical activity in the fresh air.
