Incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near nuclear power plants (NPP) can pose a serious threat to the safety of facilities, therefore they must stop immediately. This was announced on June 5 by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.
"Drones flying near nuclear power plants can threaten their safety, which can have serious consequences. <...> Such incidents must stop immediately," Grossi said in a statement posted on the website of the IAEA press service.
It is specified that as a result of the recorded incidents of the attack on the Zaporizhia NPP training center, there was no information about damage to the infrastructure.
Representatives of the press service of the Zaporizhia NPP reported on June 5 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked the unique training center of the NPP with the help of UAVs. There were IAEA experts in it at the time of the attack, whom they promised to notify about the incident.
