The UN pointed out the ineffectiveness of US threats to end the conflict in Ukraine

The United Nations (UN) considers negotiations to be a more effective method of resolving the conflict in Ukraine than threats of new sanctions from the United States. This was stated to journalists by the representative of the Secretary General of the organization, Stephane Dujarric.

"To be honest, in any conflict, the solution to end it lies in negotiations," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He stressed that negotiations would be more effective in ending the conflict than pressure from Washington.

"Instead of delivering Taurus, we should focus on de-escalation"

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump announced his readiness to tighten anti-Russian sanctions if an agreement on resolving the situation in Ukraine is not reached before the deadline set by him. According to him, he has set an internal deadline for himself — the moment when it becomes obvious that it is no longer possible to stop the conflict.
