Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled the words of poet Fyodor Tyutchev at a meeting of the Council for the Support of the Russian Language. This was reported on the Kremlin's website on June 5.

Putin noted that Tyutchev was "a true patriot and a man of high culture," and his works "go beyond poetic forms."

He recalled that in one of his texts, Tyutchev called on Europeans to respect each other, stating that Russia was ready to respect their "historical legitimacy," but they, for their part, should learn to "respect us in our unity and strength." The President stressed that these words were addressed by the poet in the context of Russian-German relations, but their meaning remains relevant today.

The Russian president also added that in 2028 Russia will celebrate the 225th anniversary of the birth of Tyutchev, whose name occupies a special place in Russian literature and cultural memory.

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on March 14 that Russia is a huge and strong country that is admired by US President Donald Trump. She noted that Russia is a country with a lot of minerals, as well as a strong nuclear power led by an "imperious president." Also, in a conversation with the media, the former German Chancellor pointed out that Western countries need to take into account the Russian point of view.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified on February 28 that Russia seeks to build a dialogue from a position of mutual respect and benefit with all countries, not just the United States.
