On Thursday, June 5, US President Donald Trump announced his readiness to tighten anti-Russian sanctions if an agreement on resolving the situation in Ukraine is not reached before the deadline set by him.

According to him, he has set an internal deadline for himself — the moment when it becomes obvious that it is no longer possible to stop the conflict.

"It's in my head, the deadline. When I see the moment when it will be unstoppable, and I am sure that you will do the same. It's going to be very, very hard. <...> You know, it takes two to tango. But we will be very tough," Trump said during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House.

At a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House, Trump also commented on the bill by U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist), suggesting new sanctions against Russia. The President noted that he had not yet studied the document, but he would make the final decision on it himself, "perhaps very soon."

Bloomberg reported on June 1 that Graham intends to impose new sanctions against Russia before the G7 summit, which is scheduled from June 15 to 17. It is expected that duties of 500% will be imposed on imports from countries that buy Russian petroleum products. The bill is supported by 82 members of the upper house of Congress.
