The United States and China have settled a number of controversial trade issues, including Beijing's supply of rare earths. This was announced on June 5 by US President Donald Trump following a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to the American leader, the parties are in "very good shape" in the context of trade relations. He recalled the current agreement with China concluded in Switzerland and noted that agreements had been reached on key issues, primarily related to the export of rare earth metals.

"We have settled some issues related mainly to rare earth metals and some other issues. These reduced trade tariff rates remain in effect. We made a deal," Trump said during a conversation with reporters at the White House before meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The phone conversation between Trump and Xi Jinping was reported earlier in the day.

On June 4, Trump declared his sympathy for Xi Jinping. The American leader noted that he likes the leader of China and always has been.
