Putin called for abandoning the clogging of the Russian language with foreign words

The Russian language needs to be freed from the vulgar foreign borrowings that litter it. This was stated on June 5 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the Council for the Implementation of state policy in the field of support for the Russian language and the languages of the peoples of Russia.
"It is fundamentally important to consistently get rid of vulgar and mechanical foreign borrowings that do not enrich, but, on the contrary, clog and distort our language," the head of state noted.
In addition, as the president added, the Cyrillic alphabet should be used in public space, and not a "mess" of Latin letters and other symbols.
On the same day, Putin also supported the proposal to create a center for the promotion of the Russian language in the world on the basis of one of the universities. He said he would ask colleagues from the presidential administration and the government of the Russian Federation to work on the project and support it.
