Composer Evgeny Dogu was buried at the Central Cemetery in Chisinau, where prominent figures of the republic rest. This was reported by the IPN agency on June 5.
"After the farewell ceremony at the Nikolai Sulak National Palace, the funeral procession headed to the Central Cemetery, accompanied by hundreds of people who came to say goodbye to the maestro," the agency reports.
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan, as well as other current and former officials attended the ceremony. President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu were absent due to foreign visits.
"The Republic of Moldova and the entire art world mourn the passing into eternity of someone who was and remains a symbol of our people," said Sergiu Prodan, Minister of Culture.
The minister added that it was difficult for him to talk about Dog in the past tense, because with his music he entered eternity.
