The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has condemned Poland's decision to grant state status to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Volyn massacre. This was reported on June 5 in the Telegram channel of the department.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine regards the decision of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to establish July 11 as the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the so—called "genocide committed by the OUN and UPA in the eastern lands of the Second Polish Republic" as going against the spirit of good-neighborly relations between Ukraine and Poland," the message says.

The Polish parliament almost unanimously (435 votes out of 436) supported the initiative to introduce a memorable date on July 11 as the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the events of 1943, when the OUN-UPA (banned in the Russian Federation) committed mass killings of the Polish population in Volhynia, which, according to historians, killed about 100 thousand people, mostly civilians.

Earlier, Poland called the exhumation of victims of the Volyn massacre a condition for Ukraine's admission to the EU. According to Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh, without the exhumation and memory of these victims, there can be no question of a good future in relations with Ukraine.

June 2 edition of The Conversation. It was reported that Poland may stop supporting Ukraine after the victory of the opposition candidate, the leader of the Law and Justice party, Karol Nawrocki, in the presidential election. Navrotsky regularly expressed "deep disappointment" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, "who behaved in a way that he should never behave towards the Polish state."
