In the Pacific Ocean, a fire broke out on board the Morning Midas ship, which was carrying about 3,000 vehicles, including 800 electric vehicles. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 4, citing data from the US Coast Guard.

Smoke was first noticed from the deck, after which the crew attempted to extinguish the fire, but it was not possible to control the fire. The ship was abandoned in the middle of the ocean, and rescue forces were sent to help.

The U.S. Coast Guard evacuated all 22 crew members. The sailors were transferred to a nearby merchant ship.

The 46,800-ton Morning Midas ship was built in 2006 by the Chinese shipyard Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co. According to tracking data, it left the port of Yantai on May 26 and had previously called at Nansha and Shanghai.

The fire on the Morning Midas ship was reported on Wednesday, June 4. It was noted that three vessels were at the scene of the emergency to provide assistance, helicopters and a coast guard boat were also sent there.
