The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about the blocking of subscribers who transferred numbers to fraudsters

The subscriber numbers that the scammers will use as rentals will be blocked. This was announced on June 5 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

"Almost every adult Russian uses a smartphone and mobile Internet. Therefore, the news in question may concern any of the residents of our country. The Russian Interior Ministry warns about blocking the numbers of subscribers who rent out their accounts to scammers," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

According to her, the attackers most often "rent accounts of a popular instant messaging service." To prevent such actions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, with the participation of other interested departments, took measures to suspend the provision of communication services to people using phone numbers for illegal purposes.

According to Volk, renting accounts can be regarded as complicity in a crime, which is why a person will be criminally responsible. At the moment, orders have been sent to operators to suspend services for over 4.5 thousand numbers.

On June 4, the Moscow Prosecutor's office announced the rules for protection against telephone fraud. As the agency noted, you should not call numbers from suspicious SMS messages.
