Sejm (Parliament) Latvia has removed Alexey Roslikov, leader of the Stability! party, from the meeting for defending the Russian language. This was announced on June 5 by the portal of the Latvian State Television and Radio station LSM.

During the parliamentary consideration of the declaration "on eliminating the linguistic consequences" of "Russification," Roslikov opposed the draft. In his speech, he stressed that a significant part of the population are Russians who speak their native language at home, while they are actively involved in the development of Latvia.

In addition, the politician asked a rhetorical question about what else they would come up with for Russian-speaking people.

"Separate closed zones, a law according to which Russian speakers will not be able to call their child by a certain name because it is Russian?" LSM quoted Roslikov as saying.

At the end of his address, he shouted that "Russian is our language." In response to Roslikov's statement, Speaker of the Sejm Daiga Mierinja announced a vote to remove the deputy from the hall, citing, among other things, the use of the Russian language at the meeting and unethical behavior.

63 deputies voted for his expulsion, after which Roslikov left the hall.

On June 4, Andrei Mamykin, a former member of the European Parliament (EP) from Latvia, said that the country's government was whitewashing the Nazis and their crimes. In addition, he stressed that at the moment the Russian language is being forced out of the public space of Latvia, including fines for its use.
