Two bridges across the Dnieper River are in critical condition. This was announced on June 5 by Verkhovna Rada deputy Roman Grischuk.

He noted that 15% of bridges in Kiev are recognized as emergency.

"Two of the five bridges across the Dnieper River are in disrepair due to improper operation, due to age and due to lack of major repairs," the parliamentarian is quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the publication Politnavigator.

The MP stressed that the Metro Bridge has been recognized as an emergency since 1990, and the Patona Bridge has been in critical condition since 2018. Nevertheless, for seven years now, hundreds of thousands of Kievans have been using this bridge every day to cross from one shore to the other.

According to the parliamentarian, the Kiev authorities are not taking any action. He called for the immediate start of reconstruction of emergency bridges.

On February 12, Irina Gerashchenko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party, said that Ukraine had passed a bill according to which the condition of critical infrastructure facilities would be a state secret.

In addition, information about the creation of a logistical reserve for responding to and eliminating the consequences of accidents at such facilities will also become classified.
