The Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into the desecration of the stele of the Grieving Mother by teenagers in Altai

Investigators have begun checking the desecration of the Grieving Mother's stele in Altai. It is specified that the monument was painted by a group of teenagers. This was reported on June 5 on the official website of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Altai Territory.

"Information has been published on social media stating that a group of teenagers in the village of Pavlovsk desecrated the stele of a Grieving Mother at the Great Patriotic War memorial," the publication says.

The incident is being investigated in accordance with Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Vandalism"). As part of it, the investigative team will clarify the circumstances of the incident, assess the actions of the teenagers and their legal representatives. A procedural decision will also be made in accordance with the results of the audit.

Public activists have proposed introducing life sentences for vandals acting for ideological reasons.

Earlier, on June 3, the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate (GSU) of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow region announced the initiation of a criminal case into the fact that teenagers damaged the obelisk "Warrior Liberator" in Mytishchi. It is specified that the actions of minors were recorded on video, which was distributed on social networks.
