Strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with CIS partners is currently an absolute priority for Russia. This was announced on June 5 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting of the CIS member states with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.

"Russia pays the most serious attention to expanding cooperation with the members of the Commonwealth. Strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with our CIS partners is an absolute priority for us," the Prime Minister said.

Mishustin clarified that the Russian side values the long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual assistance that have developed between the Commonwealth states.

At the same time, he added that Russia is ready to provide comprehensive support in expanding economic ties with the CIS countries, as well as in increasing transport and logistics routes and strengthening humanitarian partnership.

Last December, Mishustin said that Russia was interested in strengthening economic and humanitarian ties with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. He noted that within the framework of its presidency in the Commonwealth, Russia has focused on the implementation of the first stage of the economic development strategy of the association.
