The forest fires that occurred in the forests of Buryatia spread over an area of 80 thousand hectares, while no new fires were detected. This was announced on June 5 by the Republican Forestry Agency (RALH).

"Over the past day, no new fires have been detected in the forestry fund of the republic. One outbreak has been eliminated in the Yeravninsky district. On the morning of June 5, there are 10 forest fires: in Barguzinsky, Yeravninsky, Kizhinginsky and Selenginsky districts on a total area of 80.8 thousand hectares," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

It is also reported that the fire has been localized on an area of 11.3 thousand hectares in the Yeravninsky district. As stated in the RALH, settlements are not in danger.

One of the active fires was caused by a dry thunderstorm, and another by peat ignition. In all other cases, fires occurred due to careless handling of fire by people, the agency said.

72 units of special equipment, as well as 454 people, including forest protection specialists, aviation guards from the Federal Reserve and citizens, are taking part in the elimination of the flame. An emergency regime is in effect in the territory of the forest fund of Buryatia.

On May 27, the RALH reported an increase in the area of forest fires in Buryatia from 19.5 thousand hectares to almost 37 thousand hectares per day. As specified in the publication, two fires were caused by a broken power line. 808 people and 197 pieces of equipment took part in the liquidation of the fire.
