The expert spoke about the increase in pensions for those who celebrated their 80th birthday.

Russians who celebrated their 80th birthday in June will have their pension payments doubled from July 1. Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told the Prime news agency on June 5.

"In order for the fixed payment to the insurance pension to be doubled, and for the care allowance to be included in it, you do not need to apply anywhere either personally or electronically. The Social Fund of Russia has all the data and the increase will be carried out automatically," he said.

The amount of the fixed pension for 2025 is 8,907 rubles, and from July 1, for pensioners who have turned 80, it will increase to 17,815 rubles.

The expert also noted that people who celebrated their 80th birthday will receive a care allowance, which for the current year is 1,314 rubles. Thus, the amount of the fixed payment, together with the surcharge, will be 19,129.40 rubles. Balynin added that this amount will be credited to pensioners on a monthly basis.

Despite the resumption of their indexation from 2025, workers still receive 20% less than the unemployed.

On May 27, Balynin spoke about ways to obtain additional individual pension coefficients (IPCs), thanks to which Russians can increase payments. These include caring for children, participating in a special military operation, as well as caring for a person over the age of 80, a group 1 disabled person, or a disabled child.
