Buckingham Palace has developed a plan and protocol for dealing with the death of Princess Kate Middleton called Operation Reading Bridge. This was reported on June 4 by the newspaper Le Figaro with reference to the royal columnist Bertrand Deckers.

"Belgian journalist and royal columnist Bertrand Deckers reveals in his book Kate – The Day When ... <...> that Buckingham Palace chose the name Operation Reading Bridge to designate the protocol planned in the event of the death of the Princess of Wales," the statement said.

The book is scheduled to be published on June 11. The name of the plan, which, as noted, was invented by her husband Prince William, is associated with the princess' hometown of Reading. Deckers added that Prince William chose the name, and the author calls this decision "almost a declaration of love."

Kate Middleton announced on January 14 that she is in remission in the fight against cancer. She added that she intends to continue to support research and improve the quality of life of patients who also face cancer. She was diagnosed with cancer on March 22, 2024.
