The attackers stole 47 million pounds ($64 million) from the Office of Taxes and Customs of Great Britain (HM Revenue & Customs, HMRC), gaining access to the accounts of more than 100 thousand people and sending a request for benefits on their behalf. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on June 4.

Angela McDonald McDonald, Deputy Director General of HMRC, said that the fraudsters managed to receive three payments in the amount of 47 million pounds ($64 million).

According to John-Paul Marks, director general of the department, we are talking about an "organized criminal phishing attack in order to obtain identification data from HMRC systems."

BNR Radio, citing the Dutch Interior Ministry, reported on April 10 that data leaks had occurred in the country's Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Climate. The leak could also affect other departments, but this information has not been confirmed, the newspaper said.
