NATO and EU Information Center to be reorganized in Georgia

The Georgian authorities intend to reorganize the information center of NATO and the European Union (EU). This was reported on June 4 by the Georgian BMG portal with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The ministry noted that after the reorganization, the center will be attached to the ministry itself. They stressed that this decision does not mean abandoning the Euro-Atlantic course.
It is specified that some employees of the center have received notifications about the closure of the center. It was founded in 2005 by decree of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili amid worsening relations with the West.
"Starting from July 1, 2025, it is planned to liquidate the legal entity of Public law — the Information Center for NATO and the EU. Taking this into account, we warn you about your dismissal a month before," the portal publishes the contents of the notification.
Temur Sukashvili, a representative of the center, wrote on Facebook (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation) that the decision of the authorities to reorganize the organization is a prerequisite for closing the country's path to NATO and the EU.
On May 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing that it was important to be cautious about Georgia's possible accession to NATO and to exchange positions on this issue. According to him, most of the arguments on this topic are incorrect, so you need to be careful about this, realizing that the exchange of positions will be conducted in a discrete mode.
