Shadaev spoke about the transition of Russian users to domestic video services

Two thirds of the Russian YouTube video hosting traffic went to domestic sites. This was announced on June 4 by the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadaev at a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and the government.
The head of the department noted that after the start of the special military operation (SVO), YouTube decided to disable monetization for bloggers from Russia, and last year the video hosting management massively blocked and deleted the channels of well-known authors.
"As a result, these bloggers and authors switched to Russian aggregators of user—generated videos, we have two of them - VK Video and RuTube. And we can see now that two thirds of YouTube's traffic has gone to Russian sites. The lion's share went to VK Video, RuTube also shows a good pace of development," the minister said.
In addition, he stressed that currently 80% of Russian adults are registered on domestic social networks.
Earlier, on April 4, it was reported that VK Video and YouTube became the most visited video hosting sites in Russia among users in March. Rutube video hosting is in third position, and 9 million people have used it.
