The Moscow City Duma proposed to confiscate cars from car owners that exceed the permissible noise levels. This was reported on June 4 by the Parliamentary Newspaper with reference to a statement by Alexander Semennikov, chairman of the Moscow City Duma Commission on security, Legislation and regulations.

"For the first time, we propose to introduce for such violations the possibility of confiscating a car and imposing fines depending on the cost of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the noise is usually created by expensive cars — these are racing cars or motorcycles modified to fit the racing story," said Semenikov.

In order to initiate judicial proceedings on fines and sanctions for violations automatically and without contact with the violator, using special digital monitoring tools (street cameras or cameras of civilian drones), the capital's deputies have developed an appropriate bill. Currently, such rules apply only to traffic violators.

The idea of Moscow deputies to toughen penalties for street racers has already been supported by members of the Federation Council (SF), the newspaper notes. As Sergey Perminov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Rules and Organization of Parliamentary Activities, pointed out, the maximum permissible standards are now being seriously violated, some vehicles can make noises up to 120 decibels.

On May 29, it was reported that a bill was submitted to the State Duma, which is supposed to increase responsibility for the operation of vehicles with excess noise and pollutants. It was proposed to increase the fine for citizens by 40 times.
