The expert spoke about the benefits of admission to universities in 2025

Applicants with significant academic achievements, sports, or social activities can expect significant advantages when applying to higher education institutions. On June 5, Alexander Khvostov, Director of Relations with the educational community of the Admission Navigator Forum, explained to Izvestia the benefits system that will be in effect in 2025.
The most significant advantage is the right to enter without entrance tests, which is granted to the winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of Schoolchildren, as well as to holders of Olympiad diplomas from the special list of the Ministry of Education and Science.
"It is important to keep in mind that the Olympics are divided into three levels, with the first level providing maximum benefits. However, to confirm the Olympiad achievements, it is necessary to score at least 75 points on the specialized Unified State Exam," said Khvostov.
An alternative for Olympiad students may be to get 100 points in the relevant subject. This benefit is available to the winners of the second-level Olympiads and those who have decided not to use the right to enroll without exams in a specific field of study. Unlike admission without tests, the right to 100 points can be used when applying for several programs at the same time.
Individual achievements also provide significant advantages.
"Universities can add up to 10 additional points for achievements such as a diploma of the regional stage of the Higher School of Economics, a certificate with honors, for volunteering or military service. Starting in 2025, each university independently determines which achievements and how much points should be awarded," the expert noted.
Special conditions are provided for athletes. In specialized universities, outstanding athletic achievements can become the basis for enrollment without exams, and in other educational institutions, the TRP gold badge adds from 2 to 10 points to the results of the Unified State Exam.
A separate category consists of benefits within the established quotas. Applicants eligible for admission under quotas participate in a special competition and are enrolled in the first wave. In addition, there are categories of persons with a preferential right when scores are equal.
For those who did not pass on a budget, many universities offer a discount system for paid tuition. The discount amount depends on the applicant's level of achievement and can be quite significant.
Khvostov paid special attention to targeted training. He explained that this is a three-way agreement between the applicant, the university and the employer, which not only pays for tuition, but can also give additional points for participation in career guidance events.
Earlier, on May 17, Khvostov told Izvestia about popular mistakes when applying to a university. According to him, choosing a university rather than a specialty can lead to disappointment in studies already in the first years. Career guidance is needed first, then a choice of profession, then a specialty, and only after that, a university.
