The details of the criminal case against a foreigner accused of molesting several Russian schoolchildren have become known to Izvestia journalists. As the Investigative Committee investigators have established, the man acted remotely from the territory of Azerbaijan — he came into contact with a teenage girl on a dating site, then through threats and blackmail forced him to virtually introduce him to his peers. After joining a closed group, he began harassing other teenagers. About the new tactics of pedophiles — in the material of Izvestia.

A group for a seducer

The investigation began last spring, when the parents of a 12-year-old schoolgirl contacted the Moscow police. The girl was in correspondence with an unknown man who, through manipulation and threats, persuaded her to send intimate photos and videos. The investigators also found that the pedophile had committed similar acts against several of the child's acquaintances.

As the investigation found out, the beginning was a correspondence with a certain Muslim tied up in a dating chatbot by a classmate of the victim. For unknown reasons, the girl decided to add him to a group chat with about 10 children. Soon, the stranger began to communicate in personal correspondence with each of the children.

The pedophile presented himself to some girls as a teenager, while he threatened to find and kill others. In these cases, he did not try to hide his true age, which later helped in establishing his identity. His goal was to get children to take pictures of themselves without clothes or record an intimate video. Having received what he was looking for, the pervert began to blackmail his victims and demand new obscene content. He sent the received videos and photos to other minors with the demand to "do the same." Fortunately, the teachers at the school found out about the situation some time later. From them, the parents became aware of the crime, and then the TFR staff.

Deanonymization

With the help of new forensic technologies, Russian law enforcement officers managed to deanonymize the alleged criminal and collect irrefutable evidence of his guilt. After studying them, the court issued an arrest order, however, in absentia — the suspect is in Azerbaijan. A phonoscopic examination conducted at the request of the investigating authorities reliably confirmed that the voice recorded on the teenagers' phones belongs to 41-year-old Muslim Magomed oglu Kerchiev. According to the photo, he was identified by the children who suffered from the pervert's threats. Last summer, Kerchiev was put on the international wanted list.

So far, Kerchiev has been officially charged under Part 2 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Lewd acts against a person who has reached the age of twelve but has not reached the age of fourteen." Russian legislation provides for up to 15 years in prison for such crimes. However, the case is overgrown with new episodes, a law enforcement source told Izvestia, so it is possible that Kerchiev's actions will receive a different qualification under more serious articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, there are a number of procedural difficulties associated with bringing to criminal responsibility persons outside the Russian jurisdiction. However, experts express confidence that in such a case, cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries will lead to a positive result.

"When it comes to such a sensitive category of cases, the colleagues of the Russian security forces in Azerbaijan usually cooperate and act in strict accordance with the Chisinau Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters (concluded on October 7, 2002)," a retired justice colonel and international law expert told Izvestia. organized crime Sergey Pelikh. — Our side, through the Prosecutor General's Office, can transfer the materials of the criminal case against the accused, and the national investigative authorities will decide on the detention and criminal prosecution of the person. If the crime against Russian schoolchildren was committed on the territory of Azerbaijan, and the accused does not have Russian citizenship, then the pedophile will serve his sentence in his homeland if convicted. Azerbaijan does not extradite its citizens.

Why children are easier to manipulate

— The peculiarity of this situation, first of all, is that teenagers feel in a familiar environment on the Internet and do not feel threatened by strangers, even if they are adults, — says Natalia Sosnovskaya, a social psychologist. — In addition, in this case, we may be talking about the fact that the deviant who chatted with minors could refer to the girl who gave him the contacts of other victims, which also endeared the children to him.

According to the psychologist, there are more and more such cases, as communication between children and adolescents is increasingly shifting to the Internet space.

— It is necessary to closely monitor the behavior of children, be sure to install parental control on gadgets and not be afraid to contact the police or social assistance centers, — says the expert.
