At the talks in Istanbul, Russia called for focusing on working out the conditions for peace, not a truce. This was announced on June 4 by the head of the Russian delegation, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky.

According to him, Kiev confirmed its positions at the talks — to start with a 30-day ceasefire and use it to prepare for the summit.
