Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu held a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, during which they discussed the development of cooperation, the conflict in Ukraine and the situation on the Korean peninsula. This was announced on June 4 by the press service of the Russian Embassy in the DPRK.

"During the conversation, which took place in an atmosphere of friendly understanding, <...>..> an exchange of views took place on the situation around the Ukrainian crisis and on the Korean peninsula," follows from a publication on the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.

In addition, the parties reviewed the cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Earlier in the day, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Shoigu flew to Pyongyang to meet with the head of the DPRK. It was clarified that the parties also planned to discuss perpetuating the memory of the Korean fighters who helped in the liberation of the Kursk region.

On April 30, the head of the KDNR military delegation, Lieutenant General Pak Yong Il, called the liberation of the Kursk region from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) a victory over pure evil. He stressed that this event is a new stage in history, demonstrating the strong cooperation between the DPRK and Russia.
