Washington Capitals hockey player Alexander Ovechkin visited the Federation Council building, where he was received by Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko and admired the athlete's skill.

"How did you manage to become the first? The best?" — She spread her hands, starting a conversation.

To which Ovechkin laughed and remarked that he just had "such a job." Matvienko also laughed and noted that the athlete gave a decent answer, given the worldwide popularity that had befallen him.

"Can you imagine what a symbol you are for the young guys who play hockey? It's worth a lot! We need to bring back the glory of our hockey and promote the school. It's amazing," said the chairman of the Federation Council.

Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev also came to meet with Ovechkin.

Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the National Hockey League regular season on April 6 against the New York Islanders, breaking the record of four-time Stanley Cup winner Wayne Gretzky.
