Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the rank of Colonel-General to the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov. The relevant decree was published on June 4 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"To assign the military rank of Colonel-General to Alexander V. Kurenkov," the document says.

He previously held the rank of Lieutenant General, awarded to him in June 2022.

Earlier, on May 22, Putin presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with Russia's highest award, the Order of St. Andrew the First—Called. The state award ceremony was held in the Catherine Hall of the Senate Palace in the Kremlin.
