You should refrain from traveling to Turkey, as the Coxsackie virus is widespread there in the summer, which mainly affects children. On June 4, epidemiologist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko informed about this.
"I will follow my tradition by discouraging our citizens from traveling to Turkey. I will say that, despite the fact that the rest period is just beginning, our vacationers in Turkey have already encountered Coxsackie's disease," TASS quoted him as saying.
Onishchenko also recalled that this virus is transmitted through water, food, dirty hands. They are most often affected by children under 10 years of age. Coxsackie is a threat, as it can cause aseptic meningitis, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, heart, liver and pancreas.
Earlier, on June 3, Doctor of Biological Sciences, virologist Alexey Agranovsky spoke about ways to protect against the Coxsackie virus. According to him, compliance with hygiene measures will help in this.
