Trump exempted the UK from 50% duties for five weeks

US President Donald Trump has exempted the UK for five weeks from doubling duties of 50% on steel and aluminum exports. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 4.
It is indicated that the American leader has provided such a deadline to complete negotiations on the details of the tariff exemption agreement, which have been underway since May.
"We are pleased that as a result of our agreement with the United States, British steel will not be subject to these additional duties. <...>. We will continue to work with the United States to implement our agreement, which will eliminate the 25 percent U.S. steel duties," the British government said in a statement.
The article clarifies that the longer the negotiations between the countries take, the more questions will arise about the decision of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to become "the first country to settle with Trump."
The day before, Trump signed an executive order that doubles tariffs on steel and aluminum imported to America. Previously, the duties were 25%, now they are 50%. The new measures came into force on June 4.
Prior to that, on May 30, the American president announced that customs duties on imported steel would double in order to further protect the US steel industry from foreign influence and unfair competition.
