The FSB detained a man for attempting to commit a terrorist act in the Chelyabinsk region.

Employees of the Department of the Federal Security Service (UFSB) in the Chelyabinsk region stopped an attempt by a local resident to set fire to a government building. This was announced on June 4 by the press service of the department.

"A local resident has been detained who <...>..> he attempted to set fire to the building of a state institution, after which he fled the scene of the crime," the message says.

The ministry noted that a criminal case had been opened against the suspect under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Attempted terrorist act").

Investigative actions are currently underway to consolidate the evidence obtained.

On May 30, the FSB detained six people in three regions of the Russian Federation who, on instructions from the Ukrainian special services, had set fire to transport infrastructure and decorations by May 9. Criminal proceedings were initiated on this fact under Part 2 of Article 205 ("Terrorist act") of the Criminal Code of Russia.
