During a planned exercise of the Baltic Fleet, special forces soldiers worked out the tasks of freeing a ship seized by terrorists. This was announced on June 4 by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry.

It is noted that the fleet command has sent anti-sabotage and patrol boats, as well as high-speed boats with personnel of special forces units of the Baltic Fleet.

"According to the plan of the exercise, a civilian vessel, the role of which was performed by a rescue tugboat of the Baltic Fleet, was seized by a group of armed men who threatened to kill the hostages if their demands were not met," the ministry said in a Telegram channel.

In addition, the liberation work was carried out with the involvement of naval aviation helicopters with assault groups on board. Actions were also practiced in case of ship blockage, evacuation and assistance to victims.

On May 31, small anti-submarine ships of the Baltic Fleet conducted artillery firing at sea and air targets, and also practiced fighting unmanned boats as part of the exercises. As part of the exercises, the destruction of floating sea mines that pose a danger to navigation was also practiced. 30-millimeter automatic AK-630 installations were used to combat the threat.
