Law enforcement officers detained a 16-year-old teenager who planned to set fire to a locomotive in the Kemerovo region. This was announced on June 4 by the press service of the Siberian Transport Police.
"During the verification of a report about a suspicious citizen on the pedestrian crossing bridge at the Prokopyevsk railway station, transport police officers detained a 16-year—old local resident who was planning to set fire to the locomotive," the agency said in a Telegram channel.
In the teenager's backpack, employees of the line department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation at Belovo station found a container with a flammable liquid, a balaclava and other evidence of an impending crime.
It is noted that the young man was promised a monetary reward for setting fire to the locomotive. The detainee received all the information from an unknown person with whom he communicated in a messenger.
The press service reported that the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation had opened a criminal case in accordance with Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime" and "Terrorist act", respectively). The suspect was taken into custody during the investigation.
It is specified that employees of the transport police and the Kuzbass regional directorate of the FSB of Russia are conducting a complex of operational investigative measures to identify and prevent such circumstances.
On May 12, the Federal Security Service for the Kemerovo Region reported the arrest of a minor resident of Novokuznetsk who planned to commit a terrorist act by detonating an improvised explosive device. It was noted that the suspect also acted out of mercenary motives.
