Vance compared universities in the United States to totalitarian societies

American universities are losing freedom of speech and starting to resemble a totalitarian society. This was announced on June 3 at a conference organized by the American Compass non-governmental analytical center, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance.
In his opinion, the country's scientific community should be more open to exploring sensitive topics and inspire the younger generation to follow the truth, while "universities have become almost quasi-theocratic or quasi-totalitarian societies."
He also mentioned that due to the uniformity of political opinions among academics, the exchange of opinions between people is disrupted. Therefore, it is necessary to increase ideological diversity in universities, because in this case, open discussions will be held in educational institutions.
"I believe that ideological diversity in universities needs to be improved. And in this case, we will have institutions where we can openly discuss without fear of losing our jobs. I believe that in this case, science will be in a much better state, and the quality of institutions will be much higher. We need high—quality universities, but we don't have them, that's the problem," concluded the Vice President.
CNN reported on May 31 that the administration of US President Donald Trump is increasing pressure on the country's universities on the basis of ideological work. The reason for the strengthening of these measures is the insufficient fight against anti-Semitism in the education system.
