There was smoke in the cabin on board the Yakutia Airlines YAK-488 aircraft, which was flying from St. Petersburg to Yakutsk. This was announced on May 4 by the press service of the airline.
"There was smoke in the cabin of the aircraft and melting of the carpet on board the Yakutia Airlines flight YAK-488 en route from St. Petersburg to Yakutsk," the press service said in a Telegram channel.
It is specified that the cause of the incident was a short circuit of a portable battery that was in the possession of one of the passengers. The source of the incident was quickly discovered by the flight attendants, who took all necessary measures, which allowed the aircraft to continue its flight and land at the destination airport.
On May 26, the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office reported that an An-24 aircraft operated by Angara Airlines, flying from Irkutsk to Kirensk, rolled off the runway after landing at Kirensk airport. There were no casualties during the incident.
