A Moscow court has sentenced a mother who tried to sell a child to six years in a penal colony.

The Izmailovsky District Court of Moscow has handed down a verdict in the case of the sale of her newborn daughter by a 20-year-old mother. As the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital reported on June 3, the woman was sentenced to six years in a high-security penal colony.

The young mother is charged with a crime under clauses "b,h" of Part 2 of Article 127.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Human trafficking").

"Alexandrovich Jasmina Vasilyevna was found guilty of committing a crime, <...> a sentence of imprisonment for a period of six years to be served in a correctional colony of general regime," the courts' Telegram channel says.

On February 14, the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office reported that in Moscow, a 20-year-old girl tried to sell her newborn daughter for a reward of $1,000. It was noted that the child was not even one month old.
