Tarko Sale town in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District was hit by the largest flood in 25 years

The largest flood in 25 years has been recorded in the city of Tarko-Sale in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District). This was announced on June 3 by the press service of the district government.

"Over the past 25 years, the water in the river has not risen above 1000 cm, but now the level has stabilized at around 1015 cm. The reason is a sharp rise in temperature, which provoked rapid snowmelt. At the same time, the snow cover in the region was very high this year," the regional government's Telegram news channel said.

The removal of the population from the flood zones is carried out using all-terrain vehicles. A temporary accommodation facility for evacuees is being prepared at the Avangard Sports School. Leisure activities are organized at the art residence for children living in flooded areas.

"Due to the flooding of the territories of distant, medium and near dachas, it was decided to introduce a municipal emergency regime from June 3," Kirill Trapeznikov, the head of the municipality, said on the Telegram channel.

He clarified that more than 200 people are involved in the aftermath, and about 100 more are in reserve. Water and electricity supply systems are being monitored, and round-the-clock security is being organized. Municipal services continue to carry out emergency rescue and other urgent work.

Local residents are asked to remain calm and follow the recommendations of the emergency services.

Long flood: the active flood phase began in 11 regions

So far, some rivers are flooded, while others have critically low water levels.

On May 19, it was reported that 84 household plots were flooded in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug). It was clarified that floods affected 20 more household plots and two sections of the highway overflow in the city of Nizhnevartovsk, as well as 52 household plots in the city of Megion. It is specified that there is no threat to the life of the population anywhere.
