The Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office released a video explaining how fraudsters use a scheme with an alleged "inheritance" owed to the victim. The video was distributed on June 3.

It shows a humorous situation in which, when distributing the property of a deceased African king, the largest share goes to a resident of the city of Balashikha in the Moscow region.

The department stressed that all calls and messages about sudden enrichment come from scammers and in such situations it is necessary to stop contact.

On May 20, the Interior Ministry reported that fraudsters had begun using a new tactic, which is to force victims to call them on their own. The agency clarified that false messages about hacking an account in an SMS or messenger are used for these purposes.
