The Tallinn City Council has approved a draft decision on renaming the Center of Russian Culture to the Mer Cultural Center ("Marine Boulevard"). This is reported by the portal of the Estonian national television ERR.

It is reported that after the meeting of the mayor's office, the vice-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Estonia and the mayor of Tallinn, Evgeny Osinovsky, said that the new name was due to the location of the institution on Measure Boulevard. According to the document, the center will be subordinated to the art center "Cauldron of Culture", which effectively means the termination of the Center of Russian Culture as an independent organization.

It is specified that the final decision on this issue will have to be made by the Tallinn City Council.

Earlier it was reported that on April 29, Soviet symbols — sickle, hammer and anchor — were dismantled from the facade of the building of the Center of Russian Culture in Tallinn.

On April 2, the Russian Embassy in Estonia announced the destruction by the staff of the Estonian Military Museum of monuments dedicated to Soviet sailors, soldiers, and officers who liberated the republic from Nazi invaders at the Tallinn Military Cemetery.
