Hutsul pointed out the absence of an expert opinion on her criminal case.

The head of the Gagauz Autonomous Region, Yevgenia Gutsul, believes that the accusations against her of involvement in financial irregularities have not been confirmed by experts in this field. The politician stated this on June 3 in an interview with reporters after the next court session.
"No financial expertise has been conducted in relation to our criminal case. And this must definitely be done. A prosecutor cannot be both an economist, an accountant, and a criminal prosecution officer. There are specially trained people who have to give their assessment for this," TASS quoted her as saying.
Hutsul added that her lawyers petitioned the court to conduct an expert examination on how the amount of her "crime" was determined at 42 million lei ($2.4 million).
On March 25, Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport. Her name was found on the list of persons who are prohibited from leaving the country. Later, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her measure of restraint with house arrest.
Then, on May 12, the court extended Hutsul's house arrest for another 30 days. According to her lawyer, Hutsul may remain under house arrest until March 2026.
On May 21, the Chisinau Court of Appeal left the head of Gagauzia under house arrest until June 13. According to Hutsul's lawyer, Sergei Moraru, the decision to extend house arrest is illegal, it did not analyze the arguments of the defense.
