The Leninsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil sentenced to two years in prison a woman who left her newborn baby on the street. This was announced on June 3 by the joint press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.

"She has been sentenced to two years in prison to serve her sentence in a general regime colony," the agency wrote on its Telegram channel.

The incident occurred on March 4. A newborn baby wrapped in a blanket was found on a bench on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street in Nizhny Tagil. He was rescued by a passerby, who gave him the necessary help and took him to the hospital.

It is specified that the woman who left the child did not plan to raise him. A criminal case was opened against the suspect under Part 3 of Articles 30 and 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder by the mother of a newborn child").

On May 16, a source from Izvestia reported that in the town of Gukovo in the Rostov region, a 19-year-old girl had been beating her infant for several months. He clarified that the child lived in unsanitary conditions and was deprived of adequate nutrition, medical care and supervision.
