Composer Evgeny Doga died at the age of 89.


People's Artist of the USSR and Moldavia, world-famous composer Evgeny Doga died at the age of 89. This was announced on June 3 in the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Moldova on the social network Facebook (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).
"Evgeny Doga is not just a composer of the nation — he is a universal artist of the soul. He will always remain a sound bridge between classics and modernity, between the heart and the universe. The whole of Moldova will sound the way he saw it!" the statement reads.
During his life, Doga wrote operas, symphonies, as well as music for theater and cinema. The composer collaborated with leading directors, including Emil Loteanu and Sergey Paradjanov.
Doga is a People's Artist of the USSR, winner of many state awards, author of more than 200 musical works. His waltz from the movie "My Affectionate and Gentle Beast" was recognized by UNESCO as one of the four musical masterpieces of the 20th century.
