Lada car sales decreased by a quarter in 2025

From January to May 2025, sales of new Lada cars amounted to 131.2 thousand units, which is 26.3% less than in the same period last year. This was stated by the head of AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov, Prime reports on June 3.

"Of course, much less was produced, unfortunately, than in the five months of last year. And this is partly due to dumping by Chinese cars and the high key interest rate, and, in general, the tightening of credit conditions," Sokolov said on the sidelines of the annual conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" (CIPR-2025).

The head of AVTOVAZ suggested that in June sales may also decrease by a quarter in annual terms and amount to about 30 thousand units.

According to Sokolov, AvtoVAZ still sees no reason to index prices for Lada cars due to rising costs, and the company should focus on the market situation when making decisions.

Earlier that day, AvtoVAZ announced that the official presentation of the new Lada crossover will take place on June 18 at 13:00 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

On May 22, it was reported that the new Lada Iskra model will be available for preferential car loans. This was stated by Sergey Gromak, Vice President for External Relations and Interaction with AVTOVAZ shareholders. The start of sales of Lada Iskra is scheduled for July 20 this year. As Maxim Sokolov said, its cost starts from 1.2 million rubles.
